National Hispanic Institute

As Ralph Waldo Emerson once said: “Speech is power: speech is to persuade, to convert, to compel.” NHI instills the power of speech from the very beginning through their 9th grade Great Debate program where students are coached on debating subjects true to the Hispanic community by mentors who had previously graduated the program. Topics must be approached with an “approachable tenor, logical train of thought, accessible tone of voice, with the ability to deliver their message to resonate with new eyes and ears.”

Throughout the process students are also responsible for attending community volunteer efforts, fundraising and marketing. NHI is a world class education, offered to anyone that wants to gain an edge.

How can you get involved with National Hispanic Institute?

Their website has several ways for you to make an impact directly or indirectly.

Volunteer

The National Hispanic Institute actively engages NHI alumni to serve in various volunteer roles throughout its work. Whether it be at the local level or spring and summer leadership programs, volunteers have been a big part of NHI’s success over the past 40 years.

Nominate a Student

Each year, the National Hispanic Institute conducts an international outreach campaign to identify high potential students for its annual youth leadership programs.

Donations

If we truly believe in our young as future community leaders, we must also choose to invest in their development, so we can help bolster their success. Your gift will make a significant difference in moving our mission forward.

What we love

This is another outstanding organization that Julio credits for his intellectual growth. Lifelong friends were made through the spirit of educational growth, hard work, competition, support and inspiring leaders. We love that NHI powered through COVID restrictions by holding their competitive events virtually – never giving up on the soul of adaptation.
